Letters of Offer now Issued for Farm Modernisation Grants

22nd April 2013

Almost  2,400  Letters of Offer have been issued to farm businesses across Northern Ireland under Tranche 3 of the Farm Modernisation Programme (FMP).

Countryside Agri-Rural Partnership, the delivery agent for this Axis 1 Measure of the Rural Development Programme, has confirmed that all farmers have now been advised of the outcome of their applications and is urging successful applicants to ensure  that they draw down on the funding to help future-proof their farming enterprises.

David Mark, Contract Manager for Countryside Agri-Rural Partnership said: “There has been  a great response to this latest Tranche of funding  and once again demand has exceeded the available budget.  It is encouraging to see that farmers are committed to investing in their businesses especially given that we have experienced very difficult  weather and trading conditions during the past 18 months. Over 2,200 funding offers  have already been accepted and working with DARD  people and systems are in place to help approve payment claims as quickly as possible. We want successful applicants to avail of this important funding to help modernise their business and  drive  efficiency for future years.

Andrew Kerr, Farm Modernisation Programme Measure Manager added: “It is important that farmers are aware of the deadline for submission of financial claims and respond with all the required  supporting documentation which is detailed in the Letter of Offer and the Tranche 3 Explanatory Booklet.  In summary, farm businesses  have four months from the date of their Letter of Offer to complete their purchases and submit the claim for payment.  All claims for funding must be made on the official claim form, enclosed with theLetter of Offer, and need to be accompanied by an original invoice which is marked with the date of payment, method of payment and cheque number, if applicable..  An original bank statement must also be submitted  with the claim showing that the invoice(s) have been paid in full.  We will endeavour to use a mobile text messaging service to alert farmers of their impending claim deadline  -  a reminder  which farmers have found very beneficial.”

The Countryside Agri-Rural Partnership has a dedicated team of support staff in place to manage the processing of payment  claims and works in partnership with DARD to ensure claims are dealt with as quickly as possible.
